Issues and Trends in the Preparation of Business Education Students in a Changing World in Universities in Rivers State

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the issue and trends in the preparation of Business Education students in a changing world in universities in Rivers State. Two specific objectives, research questions and hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive survey design was adopted. The study was carried out in Rivers State Universities. The population of the study comprised 33 Business Education Lecturers from Rivers State University (RSU) and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) in Rivers State. The census sampling techniques was used to draw the entire population was studied because, the population was manageable. A self-made questionnaire titled “Questionnaire on Issues and Trends in the Preparation of Business Education Students in a Changing World in Universities (QITPBESCWU)”, was used. Three experts, one in Measurement and Evaluation and two in Business Education Department of Faculty of Education, Rivers State University validated the instrument. Test-retest method was used for the reliability test and Pearsons Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMC) was used to obtain the reliability coefficient of 0.92. A total of 33 questionnaires was administered on the respondents, and all the questionnaires were completely filled and returned for the study. Research questions were answered with mean and standard deviations, while hypotheses were tested with z-test statistics at 0.05 level of significance. Findings from the study revealed that technology-enhanced learning tools are accepted to a high extent in universities in Rivers State and that Business Education lecturers utilizes technology-enhanced learning tools to a moderate extent, for instructional delivery. Based on the findings, it was recommended amongst others that, Business Educators should keep abreast of emerging technology enhanced-learning available, accept and adopt for instruction to effectively centre for the learning needs of tomorrows learner. This is to ensure that all Business Educators are attuned with the current method and application of technology-enhanced learning tools in education.
