Abstract

The study examined contemporary skills for human resources management in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic: Implications for sustainable development in tertiary education in Nigeria. The main purpose of the study is to determine how contemporary skills for human resources management in the face of the covid-19 enhance sustainable development in tertiary education. To achieve the purpose of the study, the researchers reviewed the concepts of contemporary skills in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, reporting skills, communication skills, and coaching skills, among others. However, the study concluded that human resource managers in tertiary institutions are to equip themselves with these trending skills to enable them to function efficiently and effectively in this period of technological advancement due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the reviewed literature, the study recommends that; school administrators should adopt the system of online coaching and training for institutions’ staff to enhance their capabilities on job delivery, and human resources managers should adopt emerging communication skills in order to function efficiently in this contemporary time, and school administrators should adapt to digital marketing and newer ways of reporting to be able to meet up with technological demands of this century.
